The Wild Coast Costa Brava and Roses.

The Costa Brava, or wild coast, comprising the entire coastline of the province of Girona, derives its name from its twisted, rocky shoreline. The Catalan mountain ranges form a line of cliffs which fall away into the sea. The beautiful inlets along the whole of the coast, its clear blue waters, picturesque harbours and fishing villages have earned it an international reputation.

Springtime in Holland is when much of the countryside is covered in a rich carpet of colour, as spectacular bulb fields and bright tulips form a colourful and dazzling blanket across the country. We visit the famous Keukenhof Gardens, covering 80 acres, the biggest bulb show on earth. This spectacular open air flower exhibition serves as a permanent showcase for the bulb and flower industry, a treat for gardeners and non-gardeners alike.

The breathtaking beauty of Norway is legendary.  It is a wonderful land of awesome mountains, cascading waterfalls, mystical forests and above all fantastic Fjords.  Largest deepest and many say, the loveliest of all is the magnificent Sognefjord.  The mild climate in this area means that even peaches, apricots and walnut trees grow.  There are in the region of 80,000 fruit trees on the Sognefjord and Balestrand is situated in a wonderful position with wonderful views.

On five magical nights of the year the Rhine is bathed in an ever changing interplay of colours as the ships of the “White Fleet” glide along the river in procession whilst breathtaking displays of fireworks light the night skies in a blaze of colour from the surrounding hill tops. The great party atmosphere that follows along the river banks make this one of the most popular times to visit the Rhine Valley.

In Flanders Field Battlefields of Europe

Our tour is based in the now peaceful town of Ypres. Between the 13th and 15th centuries Ypres was at the heart of the Flemish Cloth Market, however the towns close proximity to the WW1 front line, at the heart of the notorious Ypres Salient saw it reduced to rubble during the almost continual bombardment and bloody fighting of 1914-18. Since the end of the war the town has been painstakingly rebuilt in the original Flemish brick style and is today an attractive and bustling community. Every evening as the clock strikes 8pm a poignant “Last Post” ceremony takes place under the Menin Gate where the names of thousands of soldiers without marked graves is etched on the wall.

Join us once again as we visit The Magical Christmas Markets of Holland and Germany, the perfect start to your festive season. The traditional stalls are lit by brightly coloured lights whilst the smell of gently roasting nuts and gluhwein fills the air. Our base for this year’s tour is the ancient Eiffel village of Monschau, where tall, narrow, half timbered houses are huddled together at one end of a winding gorge carved from the rock by the Rur River, with attractive cobbled streets. Monschau’s excellent Christmas market is in the centre of the town overlooking  the river.

Luxury New Year Break in The Rhine Valley

Back by popular demand we have once again arranged this wonderful New Year Break to the beautiful Rhine Valley. Our base for this tour is the excellent 4star Bell Vue Hotel in Boppard, probably one of our favourite hotels we have featured over the years. By day we explore the wonderful Rhine and Moselle Valleys lined with the many vineyards which make this area so popular, whilst at night we enjoy excellent food and entertainment. The Rhine valley has had a very ignoble past which has been etched into the countryside in the many castles that line the river banks. Today the river is a busy waterway and the towns and villages lining the banks are a peaceful picturesque haven.
