ITINERARY |
|
FRIDAY After a
leisurely departure we travel
south with a comfort break on
route before arriving in the
delightful town of Stamford for
lunch and an afternoon at
leisure. Picnic by the river or
explore the many antique shops
in this picturesque town. Later
this afternoon we travel the
short distance to the Marriott
Peterborough, our base for 3
nights. |
SATURDAY A
wonderful full day excursion as
we travel into the Fens to the
‘capital’ of Ely, dominated by
the wonderful Cathedral. After
free time for coffee we drive
over the fens and on to
Cambridge. On arrival at the
‘Backs’ you will be met by the
stunning view of the colleges
including King’s College Chapel.
Enjoy free time to explore this
wonderful pedestrianised city
centre, visit the colleges or
enjoy a relaxing ‘punt’ on the
River Cam before returning to
our hotel for dinner.
SUNDAY A full
day tour as we travel into
Norfolk and on to Royal
Sandringham, the Norfolk retreat
of Her Majesty the Queen. During
our visit we include admission
to the house and the 60 acres of
glorious gardens.
MONDAY After a
leisurely breakfast we travel
into Lincolnshire to the
cathedral city of Lincoln for
free time and lunch. Why not
visit the magnificent Cathedral,
Castle and Bishop’s Palace or
simply relax and enjoy one of
the many restaurants. Later this
afternoon we travel home with a
comfort break on route, arriving
home late afternoon. |

celebrated her Silver Jubilee
(25 years) in 1977 and her
Golden Jubilee (50 years) in
2002 and in 2012 the country
looks forward to celebrating her
60 years and Diamond Jubilee.The
only other Britishmonarch to
celebrate a Diamond Jubilee was
QueenVictoria in 1897.
Buckingham Palace will be
co-ordinating a programme of
events centred around the
extended weekend.This will
include a Big Jubilee Lunch, a
Diamond Jubilee Pageant on the
Thames, a concert at Buckingham
Palace and the lighting of 2012
beacons throughout the United
Kingdom.The Queen and other
members of the Royal Family will
also attend a Service of
Thanksgiving at St Paul’s
Cathedral. |

ITINERARY |
| SATURDAY
After an early start we travel
direct to the heart of London
with refreshment stops on route.
On arrival we check in to our
central hotel with the remainder
of the day free to enjoy the
sights and atmosphere as the
capital prepares for the Queen’s
Jubilee. River boats leave
directly from the hotel. |
SUNDAY
Today we will be able to watch
the pageant on the River Thames
to celebrate the Diamond
Jubilee.At high water up to a
thousand boats will muster on
the River Thames in preparation
for Her Majesty the Queen to
lead the Thames Diamond Jubilee
Pageant. It will be one of the
largest flotillas ever assembled
on the river. Rowing boats and
working boats and pleasure
vessels of all shapes and sizes
will be beautifully dressed with
streamers and Union Jacks, their
crews and passengers turned out
in their finest rigs. The armed
forces, fire, police, rescue
and other services will all be
afloat and there will be an
exuberance of historic boats,
wooden launches, steam vessels
and other boats of note. |
| MONDAY A
free day in the city to continue
with the Jubilee celebrations.
Many of the city museums, Royal
Palaces and official buildings
are staging special events to
mark this special occasion,
including a concert in the
grounds of Buckingham Palace
which will be broadcast, and
followed by her Majesty lighting
the National Beacon in London. |
| TUESDAY On
Tuesday after a service of
Thanksgiving at St Paul’s
Cathedral a carriage procession
featuring members of the Royal
Family, commonwealth friends,
politicians,military and charity
workers will travel through the
streets of London to be
televised throughout the world.
Later this afternoon we travel
home with comfort breaks
arriving back in our local area
late evening. |
