ONE of Tynedale’s best known holiday companies has celebrated its 20th anniversary in style.

Tynedale Group Travel from Haltwhistle bought the business off Waugh’s Coaches back in 1991, and the next two decades saw it establish itself as the district’s premier coach holiday provider.

As well as the annual coach holiday brochure launch at the Tynedale Farmer Function Suite, the anniversary was marked with special functions in the afternoon and evening.

Tynedale Group Travel’s managing director, Andy Sinclair, saw off stiff competition to win the coveted coach manager of the year award at last week’s routeONE Operator Excellence Awards.

The award recognises individuals who have stood out within the industry, and who have taken steps to guide their company through the current tough economic climate and trading conditions.

The ceremony, organised by the bus and coach industry’s leading weekly trade magazine, routeONE, was held at the National Motorcycle Museum near Birmingham.
